It was built by William de Moyon during the late 11th century as part of the Norman conquest of England. The castle has been owned by multiple wealthy families during its lifetime, like the Luttrell family who maintained the castle until 1976 when it was passed to the National Trust. Dunster Castle is now open to visitors and tourists who want to explore its majestic interiors. It contains several historical artifacts, such as 30 stained glass windows, artworks, furniture, and other interior decorations that all contribute to making this castle a remarkable experience.
Hestcombe House and Gardens is an estate located in Devon, not too far from Dunster Castle. It belongs to the Devon Wildlife Trust, a charity that works to preserve nature within Devon. Established in 1620, the house and its associated grounds have been under the ownership of multiple families throughout its history. Today, the grounds are open to the public, giving its visitors the chance to explore the array of gardens, ponds, fields, and woodland that make up the estate. The grounds also serve as a great spot for hosting weddings and events as some of the buildings within the grounds like Hestcombe Manor can be rented out.
